It’s tournament time!

        District and Regional tournaments have been a rush. Blowouts, upsets, and the expected have stirred fans and talk all over town. In fact, some, who show no interest during the season, sit on the edge of their seat just to listen to the evening TV sports report.

        Now it’s March Madness! State championships have a way of making former rivals cheer for one another. Well, if you can say you came within two points of beating the State Champs, you’ll even root for a conference rival.

        What’s it all about?

        For a coach, it’s seeing the grooming of players and a plan all coming together in a team victory. For players, it’s the fulfillment of a dream and hard work. For parents, it’s the joy of seeing your child’s joy. For fans, it’s being part of the “#1”.

        The Apostle Paul knew something about a ‘March Madness’ of sorts. In Philippians 3:14 he says, “I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” A goal that is worthy of the effort, one that demands a full-court-press’. It is a goal with eternal implications. 

        The ministry of the Gospel is a reaching forward, a spiritual full-court-press. Eternal souls are at stake. Paul says, “Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, have this attitude; and if in anything you have a different attitude, God will reveal that also to you; however, let us keep living by that same standard to which we have attained.”

        Press on, Brothers and Sisters! It is tournament time!
