How’d I Do?

“When Jesus had finished these words, the crowds were amazed at His teaching; for He was teaching them as one having authority, and not as their scribes.” Matt.‬ ‭7‬:‭28‬-‭29‬

“Did the Truth come through? Was it clear, simple? Will the listeners believe, respond? Was it well organized? Too long? Was Jesus glorified?” When the event or message is over, these are the kinds of thoughts ministry leaders are often plagued by. And Satan’s right there stirring up all kinds of doubt, with lots of ‘should ofs’!

The crowd’s response to Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount provides God’s answer to our doubts… “amazed at His teaching; for He was teaching them as one having authority, and not as their scribes.” There it is. The authority of Christ’s Words is our assurance. It’s not our eloquence or the execution of our organizational giftings; it is the rightly-divided, all-powerful Word of God. Oh, it’s good to assess and improve our ministry gifts and efforts. However, the effectiveness of our ministry rests in Him, in Christ’s inerrant, infallible, authoritative Word. I pray His Truth will always be your assurance in salvation and service. Praying for you!
