Timing
“My times are in Your hand; deliver me from the hand of my enemies and from those who persecute me,” Psalm 31:15.It’s no secret, I’m not a comedian. Because of poor timing, I have wrecked several great jokes. When it comes to funny, delivery of the punch line is everything. Though it’s no joke, timing makes all the difference in ministry too … God’s timing. From a human point of view, when we want God to act quickly, the waiting is almost unbearable. In fact, we are tempted to take matters into our own hands and rush the process. It’s like rushing the punch line. When you do, everything falls flat.On the other hand, when we try to delay or avoid what we know God wants us to do, the situation never gets better. It’s like dragging out a joke, instead of amusing your audience, you loose them.In either case, resting in and yielding to God’s timing are the keys to a ‘perfect delivery’. It’s no laughing matter, but it is a joyous one. The joy of seeing God unfold His perfect plan at just the right time is second to none. When we yield to the ‘now’ of delivery, it always produces the joy of the Lord.Remember our ‘delivery’ is for an audience of One. Taking our cue from His Word, it’s all in the timing
