A God-Sent Refuge Called Dad

“In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence, and his children will have refuge.” Proverbs‬ ‭14‬:‭26‬

The loving influence of a Godly father has been one of the Lord’s greatest blessing in my life. Because his influence was based on the Word of God, its impact continues to this very day.

First as a farmer, then as a manager of a Farmers Union, and finally as a Lutheran pastor, his fear of the Lord gave him confidence to live out his faith in Christ. In the market place, in our home church, and in our family, God’s truth sustained his faith, shaped his convictions, directed his steps, and engendered his love. Dad was a God-sent refuge.

I believe your family and others in your sphere of influence are blessed to call you ‘dad’ or ‘friend’! All those real or seemingly real difficulties of being raised in a ministry leader’s home are far out weighed by the Godly advantages… confident, God-shaped advantages.
