Mary-Like

”But the Lord answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” Luke‬ ‭10‬:‭41‬-‭42‬

I’m probably a little late and I know this isn’t an Advent or Christmas text, but I think it might apply to all of us. Here it is…

Even the good busy things of Advent and Christmas can distract from the one necessary thing… sitting at the feet of Jesus. For nearly 40years, I had the honor of shepherding God’s flock in observing Advent and Christmas. In the early years of ministry, I was so focused on the busyness of the details that, in a Martha-like way, regrettably, my personal observance often missed the centerpiece, the Incarnate Lord Jesus.

I pray you’ll be able to take a Mary-like position in your heart. Your example will lead the Flock, entrusted to your care, in an unforgettable celebration of the Christ of Christmas. One with no regrets.
