Pursuing the Unlovely

“I will heal their apostasy, I will love them freely, for My anger has turned away from them.” Hosea‬ ‭14‬:‭4‬

Our Holy God is a healing, loving, forgiving God! Hosea and Gomer know it and so do I. The immeasurable shadow of love’s cross spans from before creation to all eternity.

Loving the unlovely can really be tough. Especially, when they’re unfaithful, in a whole host of different ways. God knows, cares, and has a plan. Ask Hosea. In fact, it’s a perfect picture of our Heavenly Father’s love for adulteress Israel… and for us.

The phrase, ‘Except for the people, ministry is great.’ often describes our Hosea-like frustrations. That’s why it’s so important to read Hosea’s last chapter. Miraculously a broken, adulterous wife is mercifully restored to an obedient, faithful husband. God still does pursue wayward, adulterous people. By God’s grace, in Hosea-like hope and faith, we lovingly pursue the unlovely! Praying for you.
