”For I testify for him that he has a deep concern for you and for those who are in Laodicea and Hierapolis.“ Col. 4:13
When applying for a new position, most of us have been asked, “Can you provide references?” Many times those references reveal a person’s true character.
Paul’s reference for Epaphras revealed a spiritual leader, whose loving concern was, so to speak, ‘knee deep in prayer’! Doesn’t get much deeper than that… ”Epaphras… always laboringearnestly for you in his prayers, that you may stand perfect and fully assured in all the will of God.”Colossians 4:12
The deep knee-bend of Epaphras’s laboring in prayer had a purpose. He longed that they might stand perfect (only possible in Christ) and fully assured (only possible by the Holy Spirit) in the will of God… so he prayed! Don’t know if he was a man of degrees, but we do know he was a man of devotion. If asked, may those we serve give us such a reference!
