The Connection
“Now these (the Bereans) were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so,” Acts 17:11.Sadly, there’s a lot of ‘part-time truth’ being falsely declared as, “God spoke to me.”As spiritual leaders, we want and need to hear the voice of God. Here’s the Good and True News, you’ll never hear Him more clearly than when you’re listening to His Word. And, you won’t hear Him at all if you aren’t in His Word!Whether it is daily devotions or the discipline of Scripture reading or a devoted time of study or a dedicated season of fasting and prayer, tuning into the crystal clear signal of His Word is the vital connection. As Christ’s 2nd Coming draws nearer, just as Matthew 24 declares, many false prophets will beckon for our attention. Be careful not to thoughtlessly listen to them. And by all means, be vigilant so you don’t become one of them. Like the Bereans, test everything by His Word and avoid being one of them, by accurately handling the Bible. In order that God’s Flock is not lead astray, it is imperative to teach listeners how to test what they hear. When they make this connection, they will know if something isn’t true all the time, it isn’t true any of the time.
