One Day At A Time

Passing on a meaningful devotional from a nameless author…

It comes from a devotional book given to nursing students at St. Olaf College in the late 1960s. My oldest granddaughter, who is a nurse, is reading her gramma’s nursing devotionals.

ONE DAY AT A TIME

“Thy shoes shall be iron and brass; And as thy days, so shall thy strength be. There is none like unto the God of Jeshurun, Who rideth upon the heaven in thy help, And in his excellency on the sky. The eternal God is thy refuge, And underneath are the everlasting arms: And he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; And shall say, Destroy them.” Deuteronomy 33:25-26

Have you come to the end of your endurance? You just know you can't stand this rigorous work one single day longer. You're going to quit! Think of the revitalizing promise in God's Word: "As thy days, so shall thy strength be.”

What more can you want? Enough strength! For study, for duty; enough strength to keep calm when you feel like screaming; enough strength to be patient, to be the kind of Christian you really want to be for the glory of the Lord.

Notice, it's for today--not tomorrow. God never gives you tomorrow's strength today. But neither does He let tomorrow's trials come today.

Lord, for tomorrow and its needs I do not pray; But keep me by Thy strength, O God, Just for today.

Praying for you!
