Prevailing

“So the word of the Lord was growing mightily and prevailing.”… About that time there occurred no small disturbance concerning the Way….   You see and hear that not only in Ephesus, but in almost all of Asia, this Paul has persuaded and turned away a considerable number of people, saying that gods made with hands are no gods at all.” Acts‬ ‭19‬:‭20, 23‬, ‭26‬

God’s Word is a prevailing force. Because it is persuasive, it brings a Holy disturbance into the evil philosophies and practices of the world’s false gods. As followers of the Way, we must cause a disturbance and ‘get-in-their-way’. Those, who make their living off evil practices will become enraged. Contending for Truth brings persecution to Followers of the Way, but it also brings freedom to captives! It did so in Paul’s day and it does so today. Irregardless of the persecution, engaging the enemy is the absolute right thing to do.

False gods still abound. In every corner of society, they seek to destroy the inerrancy of God’s Word, the sacredness of life, of marriage, of moral purity, of creationism, etc. Even today wicked people and organizations are profiting off their evil practices. They erupt in rage, when their practices are challenged. Events like Life Chain are Godly disturbances that expose evil and persuade people forsake false gods. May God’s Word grow mightily and prevail in and through us. In spite of persecution, like Paul, let us speak up and persuade everyone we can to turn away from evil.
