Thy Will Be Done
“Then he said to Him, “If Your presence does not go with us, do not lead us up from here.” Exodus 33:15
As spiritual leaders, in our personal lives and ministries, sensitivity to God’s leading is essential. This is an undeniable truth.
However, like Moses, we all have ‘feet of clay’. Our self-will is relentless. One way or another it seeks to have the dominate say. However, no matter how good we think ‘our way’ is, if it isn’t led by God’s presence, it will lead us and our followers to a dead or possibly disastrous end! Sometimes, it’s even disguised in a ‘group-think of self-will’. Tragically, many ‘golden calves’, within ministries and institutions, have been fashioned to the harm of God’s intended purposes for the Kingdom work entrusted to them.
Hopefully, like Moses, we desire to learn from ‘mistakes of self-will’. For me, the remedy for ‘wayward feet of clay’ is discovered by returning to the ‘burning bush’. A place where He calls us to remove ‘our self-willed shoes’ in humble obedience and sincere submission to His Lordship in our lives and ministries.
